Bury manager Kevin Blackwell admitted he is thrilled to receive the backing from new chairman Stewart Day after a turbulent and fractious first year in the job.
The Shakers announced Day as the successor to Brian Fenton, and his investment in the club saw loans from the Professional Footballers’ Association loans repaid in full, and tax bill settled.
As a result, the club’s transfer embargo was lifted and Day is looking to assist Blackwell in the market – much to the 54-year-old’s delight.
“I am absolutely delighted that Bury Football Club is at last giving me the support that I have been asking for since I came to the club in September,” Blackwell told the club website.
“I was very impressed with the attitude of the new chairman and his new philosophy for the club.
“I still strongly believe that Bury FC has the potential to be very successful on the pitch, and look forward to working with the new board in creating a brighter future for the club and for the fans.”
Bury are looking to recruit new troops after former captain Steven Schumacher was pushed through the exit door along with 16 other players, who were released.
And Blackwell is eager to start the rebuilding process and guide the Shakers to a much more successful campaign in League Two.
“I have been given full authority to bring in the right calibre of player and depth of squad in order to put this club back to where we should be,” he added.
“I am just so grateful that the club’s uncertain future has now been resolved, and I am looking forward to the new season with a more positive outlook.”
