Bury leave League One with superb win, but Kevin Blackwell takes aim at club’s board…again

By Oliver Rhodes

Bury boss Kevin Blackwell continued to voice his frustrations over the running of the club, as his side waved goodbye to League One by beating Yeovil Town.

Two goals by Jonson Clarke-Harris and Nicky Ajose’s strike placed the Shakers in firm control, but James Hayter and Kevin Dawson responded in the second-half.

Blackwell said he was pleased with the final day result, but stressed the club needs to get back on the right track.

“It’s time now Bury put themselves in a position where they know where they’re going and if they do they have a chance of being successful,” he told the club website.

“I felt I have let the lads down because of our inability to bring in players at key times and my word has it shown.

“The longer we prevaricate and don’t sort things out is putting the club on the back foot.

“I am desperate to see the crisis come to a head and hopefully the club will then move ahead.”

“I’ve seen it at Luton and Leeds, until the club can dictate as to what’s happening it can’t move forward.

Blackwell said he was pleased with the finishing against the Glovers, but wished his players found their shooting boots sooner.

“The score in the first-half was thoroughly deserved and even in the second-half we created chances,” he added.

“That sort of finishing was the key to the season and if we found it for three or four more games, we might have been safe.”
