Oldham Athletic manager Lee Johnson was quick to praise those around him after guaranteeing League One football next season in beating Crawley Town.
A stoppage-time header from Jean Yves M’voto snatched all three points for Latics after Mark Connolly cancelled out Matt Smith’s third goal in as many games.
The victory, in the first meeting between the two sides at Boundary Park, gives Johnson 14 points from eight games but he played down his success.
“It was a nerve racking last ten minutes, but the boys have come through and well done to them,” said the 31-year-old.
“Though it wasn’t a fantastic display offensively, defensively we did alright apart from the set piece which led to their goal.
“Thank you to the club and to the owner and board for giving me the opportunity. The first steps have been so far so good, but now we have to kick on.”
Dean Bouzanis made his 50th appearance for Oldham and Smith scored his tenth goal of an eventful season as Athletic secured three wins on the spin.
Johnson named an unchanged line-up meaning Jose Baxter returned after suspension from the bench and his free kick provided the winner.
“I knew they would be leggy but the players stuck to the game plan and defensively we were pretty sound,” added the youngest Football League manager.
“I am a believer in continuity and noticed when we went on good runs before that we had a settled side.
“Though it was a little lacklustre at times, it was the right decision as we won the game.
“We have two games left and I want to remain relentless and keep that momentum going into next season.”
