Global mega-star Snoop Dogg has sent a luring text to entice festival revellers to purchase Manchester’s Parklife Weekender tickets.
The US rapper will be headlining the summer festival alongside Foals in Manchester’s Heaton Park which takes place between June 7 and 8.
Snoop, who recently changed his name from Dogg to Lion, was used in the PR stunt despite other stellar acts including Disclosure, Bastille, Katy B, Kendrick Lamar, Rudimental, and Jamie xx also performing.
“It’s Parklife, beeyatch! http://www.parklife.uk.com/,” texted the 42-year-old.
The personalised text appears to have had the desired effect as many people took to social media sites shortly after to express their desire to buy tickets.
One twitter user, Gemma Birkett said: “Who am I to defy a direct order from Snoop Dogg. Guess I’d better get me a @Parklifefest ticket!”
Whilst Ed Norris said: “@SnoopDogg thanks for the text, see you at @Parklifefest!”
The musical festival waved goodbye to its spiritual home, Platt Fields Park in 2012 and the festival organisers are hoping revellers will be thrilled by choice of the controversial rapper.
“We are so excited to be returning to Heaton Park in 2014 and have been working hard to pull together the biggest and most daring Parklife line-up we can muster,” a Parklife Weekender representative said.
The new venue boosts 600 acres and a rich history of hosting legendary Manchester performances including The Stone Roses and Oasis.
Other artists set to perform include Chromeo, Mount Kimbie, Childhood, Gorgon City, Duke Dumont, Flying Lotus, Gold Panda, Zomby, Sam Smith, Clean Bandit, Pusha T, Julio Bashmore, Danny Brown, Skream and Erol Alkan.
