A teenager has been arrested following an attack on a disabled man as he left the bus in Stockport.
The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested last night on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He has been bailed until January 23 pending further enquiries.
Police received new information after CCTV footage of the attack was released yesterday.
Detective Constable Drew McArdle of Greater Manchester Police said: “We have had an overwhelming response from the public following our appeal for information.
“This incident clearly struck a chord with the general public and I would like to thank everyone that has provided information that has resulted in us identifying the people in the CCTV images.
“While feeling is likely to run high it is important all four are afforded the opportunity to provide their account of what happened.
“I am confident that the truth will out and justice for the victim will prevail but for that to happen it is important the judicial process is allowed to run its course.”
The attack came after a group of youths began taunting the 66-year-old on the 300 bus at around 5.30pm on November 9.
Youths threw cigarette packets at the man and verbally attacked him.
As the man got off the bus at Daw Bank station the youths launched a vicious attack, which was captured on CCTV.
Teenage boys can be seen following the man off the bus and then proceeding to punch him repeatedly.
The disabled man was taken to hospital and treated for bruising sustained to his head, face and body.
Greater Manchester Police say they have identified the three other boys involved and will be arrested in due course.
