One of Britain’s most wanted men, who was thought to be on the run in Spain, has been arrested in Bolton after a continental manhunt.
Police have confirmed that Lee Willis, 30, from Ashton-under-Lyne, was in fact detained in Bolton on New Year’s Day.
After pleading guilty to possessing cocaine and cannabis, Willis was due to be sentenced in June but failed to show up.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and the National Crime Agency named him as one of Britain’s 13 most wanted fugitives.
Willis, who was also accused of dealing cocaine, appeared on the fugitives list published as part of Operation Captura, set up to track down criminals thought to have fled to Spain.
