A Manchester student suffering from a genetic disorder is selling a one-off collection of wrestling memorabilia and goodies to raise money for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Dean Puckering, co-founder of website The Wrestling Mania, is looking to make someone’s Christmas with a huge giveaway of exclusive prizes.
The student has received generous donations from companies such as WWE Home Video, Mattel, Power Slam, HXC Wrestling, 2K Sports and more.
Sound and video technologies student Dean said that ever since being diagnosed at three-months-old, watching wrestling has given him a way to escape his struggle with the disease, which directly affects around 10,000 people in the UK.
“I wanted to do something to help others with cystic fibrosis,” explains 26-year-old Dean.
“Without the CF Trust I wouldn’t be alive today. I can’t say enough how much they’ve done for me.”
Cystic fibrosis is a life-shortening genetic condition – only half of sufferers live to see their 40th birthday – which causes the internal organs to be clogged, causing digestive problems and inflammation of the lungs.
The Wrestling Mania is aiming to raise £1,000 towards better understanding of the disease and how to beat it through their festive giveaway.
One lucky winner will win the hamper of goodies, which includes a copy of the new WWE 2K14 video game, a limited edition signed t-shirt from WWE Superstars the Prime Time Players as well as a signed photo of WWE legend The Undertaker.
The expansive prize list, which Dean and fellow co-founder Michael Owen estimate is worth close to £800, can be won by entering a draw for answering one simple question on The Wrestling Mania’s website.
Competition entry is free, though they hope that anyone entering will help in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis through Dean’s Virgin Money Giving page.
“Anyone who donates, all I can say is ‘thank you’ because you’re helping me live my life,” said Dean.
