People across Greater Manchester took time out from their busy schedules to enjoy a relaxing cuppa and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning fund-raiser.
Emma Whitworth was one of hundreds of people across the country to organise an even for the charity, which helps to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
More than 50 people turned up for a cup of coffee and a natter at the St James’ Building in Oxford Street, much to the delight of Ms Whitworth.
She said: “It is a fantastic cause and a charity that is very close to my heart since my family has been affected by cancer.
“The great thing about Macmillan is that they don’t only support the patient, but they’re there for the families as well.”
The national event, which is now in its 23rd year, earned £15 million across the UK last year alone.
Ms Whitworth stressed the importance of donating to the charity, stating that Macmillan are so short-staffed that it is difficult for everyone who has been affected by cancer to benefit from their support.
Rey Dosaj, who also helped organise the event, added: “In the nicest way possible, I hope people never have to use Macmillan nurses – but they’re amazing, they need every penny.”
