An elderly woman who was tricked into letting two thieves claiming to be from Age Concern into her Middleton home has helped police produce an e-fit.
On Friday July 26 a man and a woman knocked on the 92-year-old woman’s door on Hollin Lane at around 12.30pm claiming they were from Age Concern.
The woman let them in and when she went to get them a drink they stole cash from her handbag. After 15 minutes they left and the woman checked her handbag to find cash missing.
As the woman has limited mobility, officers have been visiting her with specialist officers from the imaging unit, who sat with her and drew up the e-fits.
Detective Constable Daniel Daly said: “The victim felt cheated and sick after this incident, and we remain committed to finding the deceitful thieves responsible for what happened.
“We have carried out a number of enquiries but we are grateful to the victim for being able to put together two detailed e-fits.
“I would ask that anyone who thinks that the e-fits resemble anyone they know, who also match the descriptions given to call us.”
The man is described as being Asian, between 40 and 45-years-old, about 6ft tall and of medium build. He had jet black hair and was clean shaven.
The woman was Asian, in her early to mid-30s, 5ft 1in tall and of heavy build. She had cropped black hair and was wearing a skirt and sleeveless top.
