A 19-year-old woman was subjected to a sexual assault in the car park of an Oldham shopping centre on Monday and the attacker sinsterly said as he left: ‘I will be back’.
The girl was approached by a 25-year-old man outside Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre at around 10am and after engaging in a conversation with him was sexually assaulted.
The man then left the area and told his victim that he would be back shortly, however the woman was able to flee and alerted Spindles security guards.
The guards then detained a man who was arrested by police on suspicion of sexual assault and remains in custody.
Detective Constable Gareth Gwilliam said: “Incidents of this nature are rare in this area and we would not wish for users of the shopping centre or its car park to be overly alarmed. We simply need to appeal for witnesses to assist this on-going police investigation.”
Anyone with any information should call police on 0161 856 8955 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
