A neighbour from hell who shouted racist and homophobic comments, played loud music and caused fear to people living on his street in Salford was finally evicted last week.
Ian Rimmer, 45, of Canon Hussey Court, Islington, who has a long history of anti-social and criminal behaviour as well as rent arrears was evicted on August 13 after causing misery for his neighbours
The recently evicted Salix home tenant is currently serving a 12-week prison sentence for a Racially Aggravated Public Order Offence.
Sue Sutton, director of customer and neighbourhood services at Salix Homes, said: “Salix Homes takes community safety very seriously and we strive to make sure that our neighbourhoods are safe and secure places to live.
“Ian Rimmer has caused a lot of fear and upset for the residents living at Canon Hussey Court and in the surrounding area with his threatening and racist behaviour.
“He has also been repeatedly aggressive to several of our employees which we will not tolerate.
“We welcome the court’s decision and I hope that by taking this course of action, it will restore faith in our residents that action will be taken wherever possible to protect customers living in our communities.
“We take all reports of anti-social behaviour extremely seriously and I would urge anyone who is suffering from anti-social behaviour to come forward with information, so we can ensure our neighbourhoods remain safe places to live.”
Salix Home manages 10,500 homes across Central Salford and obtained four previous injunctions against Rimmer.
The conditions included banning him from the Salix Homes offices in Hankinson Way, but despite the injunctions being in place his bad behaviour has continued.
With the new court order, a further full Injunction Order with power of arrest against Rimmer on the grounds of his repeated anti-social behaviour was granted.
Under the terms of the injunction, Rimmer is banned from threatening violence to his neighbours or causing nuisance or annoyance to his neighbours.
