Bolton pensioner, 87, dies after being battered in his OWN home during callous midnight robbery

A pensioner who was hospitalised after being robbed and beaten in his Bolton home died yesterday.

Frank Worsley, 87, was attacked when he was woken up by an intruder who broke into his home on Longfield Road, Bolton, at about 00.40am on August 3. 

Frank was admitted to hospital after suffering a stroke and a bleed to his brain, but sadly died there yesterday afternoon. 

Senior Investigating Officer Andy Tattersall from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “Our thoughts and sympathies go out to Frank’s family at this devastating time for them, after he sadly passed away in hospital yesterday. We will do all we can to support them. 

“Our investigation into this case is ongoing and we are appealing for anyone that may have seen a suspicious person or vehicle in the Longfield Road area of Bolton in the early hours of Saturday 3 August, to contact us.” 

A Home Office post-mortem examination is due to take place today to determine the cause of Frank’s death.
