Flasher targets lone jogger in ‘brazen’ Oldham incident – police appeal for witnesses

By Amelia Goswell

A man flashed a female jogger while she was out running alone in Chadderton late last month.

The 34-year-old woman was jogging along Broadway towards Foxdenton Lane at about 8.25pm on July 27 when she saw a man about two metres in front of her – he pulled his shorts down and indecently exposed himself.

The man is described as white, in his late forties or early fifties, wearing a skin-coloured shirt and black shorts.

He was also carrying a holdall on each shoulder and a khaki-coloured guitar case.

Police Constable Michael Greaney said: “This woman was understandably shocked to be confronted by this man, who brazenly exposed himself and then walked off.

“This sort of behaviour causes victims a lot of distress and anxiety and we will do everything we can to identify the culprit and bring him to justice.

“It is important for the victim’s peace of mind that we apprehend this man and send a message this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.

He added: “This incident happened on a sunny evening and we believe there may have been a lot of people sat outside the Ancora restaurant either eating, drinking or smoking who may have either seen what happened or recognise the man himself.

“If you do have information we need to hear from you.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
