Thousands of paint-throwers will brighten up Heaton Park next month as the first ever Manchester Holi Festival of Colours is set to add a splash of (very vibrant) colour to the famous musical venue.
No item of clothing or showing of skin will be left unpainted as guests will be drenched from head to toe in a range of kaleidoscopic colours on Saturday August 24.
Each year millions of people throw multi-coloured powder to represent race, religion, gender and class, making Holi a celebration of humanity, community and togetherness.
India, the birthplace of Holi, can celebrate the ritual for up to six days, and the Holi-One festival has taken inspiration from the sacred ritual for Manchester residents to enjoy a visual extravaganza.
The creators of Holi-One have described the event on their Facebook page as a beautiful sight to watch, as people at the open-air festival will be covered in brilliant colours and the air filled with the clouds of bright powder and the cheerful mood of the people.
The festival will also play host to a line-up of established DJs bringing an explosion of electronic and techno music to add to the already vibrant atmosphere.
