The presenter of the only Manchester radio show to be nominated at the Sony Awards says he feels like ‘a kid who’s been handed the keys to a sweet shop’.
Tim Cocker’s Xfm Manchester Breakfast Show has been nominated in the Breakfast Show of the Year and Best Competition categories.
Ex-teacher Tim and producer Jim Salveson are also up for an Arqiva radio award – and it seems Tim is still coming to terms with his success.
“To get this nod of approval is a total buzz,” he said.
“These awards are the biggest accolade a radio presenter can get and it feels amazing to get the recognition of my radio peers.”
Tim and Jim are best known for their irreverent take on music, the city of Manchester and life in general.
Manchester and radio presenting is a match made in heaven for Tim, who insists his love for the job is as strong as ever.
“To be there every morning when Manchester is waking up is a total joy.”
Since arriving at Xfm Manchester in 2006, Tim has interviewed the likes of Noel and Liam Gallagher, Brandon Flowers and Simon Pegg.
He took over the Breakfast Show in 2010, and has since become Xfm’s longest-serving breakfast presenter.
Now he is looking forward to letting his hair down at the Awards after years of hard work – both as a radio presenter and family man!
“I’m looking forward to a night out and a slap up feed in a new suit… something pretty hard to do normally, with two young children and a 4am alarm call!”
