Drug dealers in Rochdale were warned by police that their operations, large or small, will be shut down after cannabis plants worth up to £200,000 were confiscated.
Almost 600 were recovered by police from a house in Rooley Moor Road, Rochdale yesterday, which was ‘significantly modified’ to allow the cannabis plants to grow.
Some plants will be kept as samples, but the rest will be destroyed and Inspector Umer Khan, from Rochdale North Neighbourhood, insisted the campaign to rid the area of drug dealers is going well.
Inspector Khan said: ”In less than seven days, Rochdale North has removed well over £1million worth of Class A and B drugs from circulation.
“We will continue to target drug dealers no matter what scale of operation they run.
“We need the community to support us by sharing information with us”
An electricity supply had been set up to maintain a good level of light and temperature suitable for growing cannabis.
Before officers could start dismantling the set-up, the power supply had to be taken down to make the operation safer.
The plant was close to harvest, and would fetch up to £200,000 on the street market.
Anyone with any information regarding drug dealing can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or contact Rochdale North Policing Team on 0161 856 9961.
