A young Bolton man who was ‘a dedicated son, brother and uncle’ was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an ice cream van.
At about 5.45pm on Friday, police received reports of a traffic accident on Bradford Street at the junction of Radcliffe Road in Bolton.
Emergency services attended and found Andrew Wood, 23, with serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital but passed away on Saturday morning.
The family of Andrew have paid tribute to the ‘hardworking honest and friendly person who enjoyed walking with his dog and riding his motorcycle.’
“He worked with sick, injured and abandoned animals at a local animal rescue centre,” they said.
“He had a lovely girlfriend and they had plans to move into their first home together in the near future.
“We are all completely overcome by his loss and our lives will feel empty without him.”
Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 or email [email protected].
