An unidentified man’s body found in the same stretch of a Manchester canal as clothes and religious writings has left police searching for answers.
The body was discovered by underwater search teams after police were called to Pomona Docks, Trafford on Sunday, March 17 at around 1.15pm
A month earlier, a member of the public found a light blue Montane fleece, brown cord trousers and black lace up boots, which were spotted alongside three religious documents.
The documents, entitled Knowledge and Understanding, Wholeness and Being and Becoming, contained self-compiled quotes and extracts from a variety of online sources.
The man is described as being between his 20s and 40s, of medium build and had short brown hair and was wearing North Face long johns and black t-shirt, and
Detective Sergeant Andy Reynolds, based in Stretford, said police are keen to identify the man but admitted the death is not being treated as suspicious yet.
“We need to establish what happened leading up to the discovery of his body in the water,” said DS Reynolds.
“I would ask people to cast their minds back to the 15 or 16 February. Were you near to that stretch of the canal in or around these days?
“If so, did you see a man wearing similar clothes to the ones described? If you did, I would ask you to contact us as soon as possible so we can identify him and inform any potential family members.”
