A free live-music festival will be returning to Manchester this May to kickstart the summer with a bank holiday extravaganza.
Great Northern Warehouse is bringing back The Deansgate Mews Festival for the fifth year running on May 23-25.
The weekend promises entertainment, local trade pop-ups, food and drinks, and an all-round celebration of Manchester’s independent business and music venues.
In a bid to showcase the city’s most up-and-coming talent, Mews Fest has announced local rock band Delights, and indie band Strawberry Lemonade, as the first of many artists confirmed to perform the weekend.
Mark Schofield, Great Northern Warehouse centre director, said: “We are proud to have created a festival which celebrates Manchester’s grassroots music.
“Each of our venues is very different in terms of the lineups they have curated, meaning there really is something for everyone to check out.”
The festival will host over 40 artists across four stages.
And in addition to the acts, there will be opportunities for shopping, and restaurants and bars along the Mews will be set up with extra seating for festival-goers to enjoy open-air cocktails, wine, and sharing plates.

For families, there is the Mini Mews Festival in the atrium, where children will be entertained.
Throughout the weekend Great Northern Warehouse will be collecting money for Forever Manchester, a unique charity that funds and supports community activity across the region.
The weekend will be sponsored by the AO Arena.
Ellice Eadie, head of marketing, said: “The talent pipeline starts with grassroots artists.
“If we’re not protecting the spaces that allow them to play and grow, who will be headlining our iconic stage 20 years from now?
“We’re committed to future-proofing our industry, and that starts at home.”
There are still spaces available for Manchester’s independent traders to secure a spot at the festival. Local businesses should email: [email protected].
