Father-son duo create new happy hour app coming to Manchester

A father and son have developed a new app that will highlight happy hour deals across Manchester.

Cian Fawcett and father Andrew are set to launch the Hoppy app in February, to collect and display information about happy hours available in Manchester, Dubai, and London.

The app has been a long-time business idea of Andrew’s, and the duo will soon make it a reality – supporting both bar hoppers and struggling venues.

Co-founder Cian said: “The cost of living is very high and it’s difficult to find these deals. Although they exist, it’s hard to find a go-to platform where you can find the nearest place with a good deal for food and drinks.

“On top of this, you’ve got venues which are really struggling to keep the doors open because they keep having to raise the prices.

“People don’t go out as much, it’s too expensive. We’re trying to solve these problems.”

Targeting an initial launch in February, Hoppy’s activities in Manchester will appeal to students and young professionals in the city, he shared.

“We want to encourage young people to go back out, enjoy all the great local spots in their city with friends, whilst not breaking the bank”, he said.

Happy hour deals across the city will be available for free on the app, with subscription-paying users able to access other exclusive discounts.

Knutsford-based Andrew has been in charge of managing investments into the startup, with over £140,000 raised so far. The majority of this investment is directed to app development costs and marketing budgets.

The next step is getting more nightlife venues across the three cities to partner with the app. Coming at no cost, venues can express their interest through the Hoppy website.
