Nigel Farage has caused controversy online after he attended a rally in Pennsylvania in the run up to Trump’s re-election as president.
At the rally on Monday 4 November, Trump called the Reform UK leader “the big winner of the last election” in the UK, and that he is “very highly respected”.

After Trump won the election this morning, Farage took to X, calling Trump a “genuine friend of the United Kingdom” and urged Keir Starmer to “roll out the red carpet for the 47th President of the USA”.

Keir Starmer must roll out the red carpet for the 47th President of the USA.
This is a huge opportunity to be grasped. pic.twitter.com/Wza4UgzGzh
Farage’s presence at the rally, as well as his investment in US politics generally, has divided opinion online, with some people supporting him and others calling him out for not spending enough time in his constituency, Clacton.

Another X user posted a picture of a police search with the caption: “The search for Nigel Farage in Clacton enters its 18th week, “jibing at how little time he has spent in Clacton since being elected at its MP.

Another user posted a video of Farage on “holiday” in the US during the election campaign and tagged the Speaker of the Houses of Commons in their tweet, asking if Parliament is in recess.
Dear @CommonsSpeaker. Can you please confirm if Parliament ia is still in recess? If not, why is @Nigel_Farage on holiday? https://t.co/E1b2FY6Po3

Others, however, have shown their support for Farage and his investment in the US election.
One user posted that the friendship between Farage and Trump has kept the new president-elect on the UK’s side.
Regardless of Trump's understanding of our electoral system, he's going to win the US election.

Starmer would do well to throw Farage a bone in return for him helping keep Trump on our side because this 2nd term is going to be tariff after tariff for the rest of the world.
Another took to X to call Farage the “real British ambassador to the US.”
Well done Nigel, the real British ambassador to the US β
