More than 2,000 people attended a sweet factory’s spooktacular Halloween event just outside of Manchester last week.
Swizzels, which is famous for its Drumstick lollies, Love Hearts and Refreshers, opened its doors in New Mills to host a free night of sweets and games.
This is the sweetmaker’s fourth annual HQ event which celebrates Halloween – the factory’s busiest time of year.

Senior brand manager of Swizzels Claire Lee said: “It’s a safe environment for children and families to walk around the factory grounds and enjoy Halloween.
”It’s really important for the community as many people work for Swizzels, so it’s a good opportunity for us to invite their families onto site to show them what we do.
”With Halloween being one of our busiest seasons, it’s also a great time to give back.”
Swizzels is the UK’s largest family-owned independent sugar confectionery business and one of the few confectionery companies to still manufacture sweets in the UK.
Managing director Mark Walker said: “It’s the fourth year we’ve done this event and every year it gets bigger and better with more and more people attending.
“We get a lot of families of employees which is great – they get to see where their parents and grandparents work.
“Obviously Swizzels is a significant part of the community here with the business being the biggest employer in the area, so the event is really important.”
The Halloween extravaganza allowed all ages of the community to celebrate the spooky season together.
Attendee Brooke, who dressed up as a witch, said she had been to every single Swizzels Halloween event.
In the queue before it started Brooke said: “This is my favourite Halloween event. It’s all so fun, I’m so excited!”
In the trick-or-treat spirit, Swizzels were handing out plenty of free sweets – keeping kids entertained with Halloween-themed games including Witch Hat Hoopla and Skull Knockdown.
