General Election 2024 results: Labour take Bury North

Labour has won back the seat of Bury North with 19,625 votes.

The new MP for the constituency is James Frith, who was MP between 2017-19. 

He had a majority of 6,944 votes over his second place.

Second-placed candidate James Daly, a new representative for the Conservative party, received 12,681 votes.  

Reform UK’s Lynda Rosewell came third with 7,385 votes.

The turnout for the election was 59%, compared to 67% in the last general election.

The seat had previously been held by Conservative James Daly, who won with a majority of just 105 votes in the 2019 general election. 

Back in 2019 Bury North was the smallest margin in the country.

  • Shafat Ali, Workers: 1,917
  • James Daly, Conservative: 12,681
  • James Frith, Labour: 19,625
  • Spencer Donnelly, Independent: 277
  • Anwarul Haq, Independent: 571
  • Lynda Rosewell, Reform: 7,385
  • Owain Sutton, Green: 1,747
