A running group in Manchester has organised its fifth annual event raising money to provide accommodation and support to rough sleepers across the city.
The 24 Hour Run Against Homelessness started at midday Wednesday 15 November to Thursday 16 November, raising money for Mayor Andy Burnham’s charity scheme ‘A Bed Every Night.’
Participants can walk or run as many laps as they choose and this year they have raised nearly £8,000.
Research from the charity Shelter estimated that Manchester had the third highest rates for homelessness in 2022 and only a 38% success rate for the prevention of homelessness, compared to a 58% national average.
