The cenotaph in St Peter’s Square has been cordoned off as preparations begin for Manchester’s annual remembrance service.
A green ‘cherry picker’ has been used by workers to clean the memorial before the event on Sunday November 12.
Manchester City Council recently revealed its plans for the annual service being held in the city centre.
Veterans and military personnel are due to march from John Dalton Street to St Peter’s Square as part of the service before participating in a two minute silence from 11am.
The start and finish of the period of silence will be signalled by the firing of a 105mm gun.
A short march will then continue to Peter Street to conclude the service.
Manchester City Council will be live streaming the event from 10.45am – which will be available to watch here.
Several road closures will be in affect from 10am until 12.30pm on Sunday November 12 around St Peter’s Square.
All nearby parking bays will be suspended from 8pm on Saturday November 11 until 5pm the next day – details of which you can find here.
Tram suspensions will also be in place through St Peter’s Square and are due to be revealed closer to the time.
