Football fans in Manchester predict success for England in the World Cup

As the World Cup kicked off in Qatar, England fans in Manchester flocked into pubs and fan parks to watch the Three Lions face Iran in the first group stage fixture.

Fans in Love Factory gathered in their hundreds to watch the match on the big screen – and many have high hopes for Gareth Southgate’s squad following their 6-2 defeat against Iran.

Former England international Wes Brown kicked off the first event and had his say on how he thinks the tournament will pan out.

Brown said: “On our day I think we are capable of beating everyone the experience from the end of last season also from the Euros all the players know each other very well so I do think we have a good chance.

Although when we do get to play the better teams its whether we can keep our composure and be confident and that is always key.”

The former Manchester United defender even had his say on the Golden Boot predicting Ronaldo, Messi or Mbappe to take the prize.

Fans are now hopeful England can bring home the first trophy since 1966.
