Wigan indie-rock band The Lathums are set to headline Manchester’s legendary Band on the Wall as part of BBC’s 6 Music Festival.
They will be joining the BBC Music Introducing Live night on Thursday March 23, creating an opportunity for fans to experience an intimate show as they perform to their home crowd.
Lead singer of the Lathums, Alex Moore, said: “We’re really excited to join the 6 Music Festival and for our set to go out live on air, beautiful stuff.”
This comes after The Lathums achieved their second UK Number 1 album in the Official Charts with, ‘From Nothing to a Little Bit More, after their first release, ‘How Beautiful Life Can Be’ also reached the top spot.
Their place at the festival was confirmed by Nemone and they will be joined by the exciting psyche guitar band Afflecks Palace, talented indie hip-hop artist Antony Szmierek and singer-songwriter Phoebe Green, who are all hailing from Manchester.
This year’s Festival will take place from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th March, where the festival will be returning to the location of the station’s first-ever festival in 2014, and Greater Manchester will now be the permanent home for the 6 Music Festival.
Additionally, an eclectic mix of artists will take place each night at the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.
Performances from Loyle Carner, Arlo Park and Big Moon along with DJ sets from Charlatans’ Tim Burgess, will all take place over the weekend.

Highlights from the performances will be available for those who couldn’t attend the festival as they will be available on Tom Robinson’s festival special on BBC Radio Manchester between 7 pm and 10 pm on Thursday 23 March.
All BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio Manchester programmes will be available on BBC Sounds for 30 days after the broadcast, including broadcast interviews with all the artists performing at Band of the Wall.
