Watch: Portico Library reopens with a brand new menu and bigger plans for the future

Manchester’s treasured Portico Library has reopened to the public with a brand new kitchen space and menu for visitors.

Excluding the pandemic, this is the only time the library has been closed since it opened more than two hundred years ago in 1806.

The menu boasts a delightful array of classic favourites, such as soup, sandwiches, and the cherished Lancashire hotpot, as well as exciting new dishes, including the enticing vegan “notpot.”

Along with the new kitchen, the Portico Library has also launched a new exhibition, “Brick by Brick.” This takes visitors on a journey through the history of the building, from its origins to its future possibilities through funding.

MM visited the newly-refurbished space to see the new exhibition and get a behind the scenes look at the private member’s area.

The exhibition will be open until March 31st. To find out more, visit theportico.org.uk
