Russia invades Ukraine: On 24th February Russia launched a military invasion in Ukraine as President Putin wanted to take back what he views to be Russian territory, shocking the world with ongoing scenes of violence.
Chinese New Year: People all around the world celebrated Chinese New Year on the 1st February bringing in the year of the tiger. Manchester City Centre got involved with their dragon parade and red lanterns decorated the city.
Beijing Winter Olympics: The Winter Olympics took place in Beijing this month with Norway coming top, winning 16 gold medals, eight silver and 13 bronze. England however came 19th place with a disappointing two medals overall.
Queen’s 70 years: The late Queen Elizabeth ii celebrated 70 years on the throne on February 6th becoming the first British monarch in history to reach their Platinum Jubilee. Large scale events were scheduled to take place later in the year to mark her coronation.
Adele sweeps Brits: The BRIT awards took place in this month which saw the best if British talent united. Adele swept the floor winning best song, best British album, best artist and best pop/R&B act for 2022, following her long awaited album ’30’.
