With Christmas fast approaching, the Manchester Christmas markets are preparing for what should be their busiest time of year – but with inflation and the cost of living crisis, things may not be the same in 2022.
In recent years, the markets have been very busy and vibrant places across the city, with many people visiting from all across the country to get into the Christmas spirit.
However as prices are increasing and bills are becoming harder to pay, the markets have seen a massive change in customer consumption this year.
Fewer families are attending, nights are seeming quieter and more people are refusing to pay the prices.
MM spoke to people working at the Christmas markets, on how the cost of living crisis is affecting their businesses, and how people are complaining about the increased prices.
