Manchester football fans are expected to drink 27% more alcohol than they normally would, during the World Cup, according to a new study.
Online-Slot.co.uk surveyed English football fans across the country to find out just how much booze they will consume during the tournament.
The Three Lions kick off their campaign in Qatar against Iran on Monday.
Durham was the city that came out on top, with 56% more alcohol than usual set to be drunk, while Manchester placed fifth on the list.
Overall, 22.8% of England fans across the country will drink more – either celebrating the Three Lions’ victory or drowning their sorrows after defeat.
As part of the study, fans were also asked what they would give for England to be crowned world champions, with 26% saying they would be willing to get a tattoo.
A further 20% would shave their heads, or give up meat to become a vegetarian.
Despite committing to drinking more during the tournament, 16% of fans also said they would give up alcohol for the rest of their life to see England lift the trophy for the first time in 56 years.
The three lions are in Group B alongside Iran, USA and Wales.
At the last World Cup in 2018 Gareth Southgate’s side reached the semi-finals, and after finishing runners-up in last summer’s European Championships, they’ll be hoping to go one better this time.
