Manchester acts who performed at the 75th anniversary of the Edinburgh Fringe 2022 expressed their excitement of the return to the event during this special video piece from Mancunian Matters.
The Edinburgh Fringe was fully opened to the public this year after COVID-19 cancelled the festival in 2020 and a heavily reduced event took place in 2021.
Only 21% of performers were live in Edinburgh last year, which is in comparison to the scale of performances this year.
However, 2022 saw the Fringe reach the same scale as pre-pandemic levels.
Lyndsey Jackson, deputy chief executive at Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, shared her enthusiasm and gratitude for the Fringe following a two-year absence due to Covid-19.
Additionally, The University of Manchester’s Sketch Comedy Society, Manchester Revue, are back for the second consecutive year in Edinburgh after performing a sell-out show last year.
The president Nell and committee member Fraser shared their experiences last time round and how this differed to this year, with a key vision that the society wishes to achieve.
Finally, comedian Russell Arathoon speaks to MM on his return to the Edinburgh Fringe after his debut at the arts festival in 2018, where this year he is performing at least three shows for the entirety of the Fringe.
Arathoon, who was based in Manchester, and now lives in London, speaks around his feelings on performing multiple shows at The Fringe and provides specialist insight into how to bring in a captive audience.
