Manchester’s top-selling event ‘Art-Dress It’ returns March 6 for its fifth year at Deaf Institute.
Performers across the North-West unite for a vibrant and intimate evening of art, spoken word, music and creative appreciation.
‘Art-Dress It’ provides a safe space for artists to share their work, inspire creativity and address important conversations.
The non-profit event promotes emerging talent from Manchester’s creative scene while supporting charities such as MIND, The Teenage Cancer Trust and Justice4Grenfell.
Originally a blog page created by Sophia Hadji Michael, 22, ‘Art-Dress It’ was a collective space using the work of young artists to accompany articles that discussed contemporary societal issues.
The platform grew and with the help of friend and co-organiser, Jasmine Rowland, 21, the online space became a night of poetry, music and art.
Rowland explains “It really outlined the importance of art providing a catalyst for conversation.”
This year the event has an exciting new addition of providing the opportunity for independent sellers to sell their products and artists to exhibit their work.
The event has built up a community of performers, but Michael says: “We wish to keep expanding and are always on the lookout for new talent to connect with us.”
Rowland adds: “We would love to host workshops for people to get involved with and create paid opportunities for creatives where there is a current lack in the Northwest.”
‘Art-Dress It’ introduces a new generation of artists to Manchester and is an evening not to be missed.
Deaf Institute proves an inclusive venue with three floors displaying an array of talent and a healthy flow of drinks to be enjoyed at the bar while listening to live music or poetry.
For its fifth year, ‘Art Dress It’ will be supporting the ‘Cruse Bereavement Line’ run by volunteers to help those going through bereavement.
