Ordsall Hall: Salford’s oldest building to celebrate 50 years as a museum

Dating back as early as 1177, Ordsall Hall has stood at the centre of the local community in Salford for centuries.

Ordsall Hall began its life as a home to the aristocratic Radclyffe family before serving the community across the centuries as a working men’s club, a soup kitchen, a court and a church hall.

In April, the Hall celebrates 50 years as a museum where it has welcomed visitors, telling the story of the building and some of its many inhabitants.

MM spoke to Jennifer Holland who is commercial manager of the site having worked at Ordsall Hall for 13 years. She talked about the building’s origins and how it came to be the museum it is today.
