With rules constantly changing it’s hard to know when and where you’re supposed to wear a mask.
Mancunian Matters has checked Government and Manchester City Council guidance to explain the rules in one place.
Masks are now required inside of shops and supermarkets, including large shopping centres such as Manchester Arndale.
Face coverings are also required on all public transport such as trains, buses and trams.
This rule also extends to anyone catching a taxi or other private hire vehicle like an Uber.
While waiting for any public transport you’re going to need a mask inside transport hubs like airports, bus stations and railway stations.
Any premises providing personal care and beauty treatments like hair salons, barbers, piercing studios and nail salons also fall under this rule.
Heading into a restaurant without a mask is fine but any takeaways that don’t have seating require face coverings.
This is only different if you’re eating and drinking in the takeaway, in which case you don’t need a mask.
When going to get cash out you’ll also need a mask while inside any type of bank, building society, credit union, savings club, short-term loan provider or high-street solicitors alongside any related buildings.
This includes the post office, so if you’re planning to withdraw cash or send out some parcels you’ll have to remember your mask.
Other locations where you will need a face covering are in pharmacies, retail travel agents, and inside places providing veterinary services.
