Old Trafford is set to spring into life in early May with the creation of an art trail of six individual murals across the area.
The OT Art Trail is a community project organised by local artistic hub OT Creative Space and masterminded by Founding Director Lynda Sterling.
Five artists of varying styles and disciplines have been commissioned by Sterling to adorn the area with colour and creativity, and the murals will then be linked via a downloadable audio tour.
The five visual artists due to start work are artist and designer Robert Lomas, aerosol and graffiti art specialist Jamie Rennie, fine artist Sam Owen Hull, Russ Meehan, who is also known as Mural Life, and graffiti artist and photographer Martene Rouke.
The frescos will be connected by a spoken word piece from Old Trafford-born SW artist, writer and rising star Isaiah Hull.
Community spaces such as Seymour Park and Ayres Road will provide the canvas for these works, along with a takeaway pizza shop and three Old Trafford residents’ homes.
The commissioned designs were made with help from the local community, who were sent creative packs and contributed through zoom workshops, social media and interactive displays in the window of OT Creative Space.
Sterling said: “We had to be very creative in order to maximise community participation at a time when we are being encouraged to stay apart rather than come together.
“Technology has played a part, but also good old fashioned paper and colouring pencils.”
