Whether you’re over the moon or deflated about the exit poll predictions a few hours ago, social media was awash with colour yesterday as people (and their pets) took to polling stations.
Here are some of the highlights…
#DogsAtPollingStations
As voters headed to the polls all day, many took their dogs and #DogsAtPollingStations trended nationwide, giving a little furry cuteness to the critical day in British Politics.
At my 2nd general election… Even though I’m only 3 years old! No wonder I cried when mummy went inside! #dogsatpollingstations pic.twitter.com/1VyQBG1Pvc

Why on earth would you take a disgusting, smelly and vile scruff like that to vote with you? I think we need an immediate answer from the dog. #UKElection #dogsatpollingstations #UxbridgeAndSouthRuislip pic.twitter.com/BnnTMvS8Ci

Fur boy cares about protecting the planet for future pups, a fair distribution of treats for everyone, and not saying goodbye to his European friends (if we can help it!) #dogsatpollingstations # pic.twitter.com/pARCtXYvKQ— Michaela (@HeyImMichaela) December 12, 2019
#CatsAtPollingStations
Much like man’s best friends, cats headed out to the polls today after their owners.
Make sure you vote today, dears. I’ll be there, making sure. But rest assured, I will remain in charge of everything no matter the result. #CatsAtPollingStations pic.twitter.com/EjVS2dzNch

Our cat Charlie Hitler followed us to the polling station this morning. He’s an arsehole so doubtless he’d vote for the Brexit party if he could, but thankfully he can’t, so we voted to put @jeremycorbyn and El Gato in Downing Street instead #catsatpollingstations pic.twitter.com/CM7Afc5HqE
