Passenger traffic has hit a new high at Manchester Airport with over 26 million people passing through in the last 12 months.
This record for the airport comes after almost three years of continuous growth, and makes Manchester one of the busiest 20 airports in Europe.
In February 1,659,843 passengers used the airport – an 11% increase on this time last year.
Ken O’Toole, Manchester Airport CEO, said: “Passing the 26 million passenger mark is another important milestone for us.
“Growth has been delivered across the board, reflecting the fact Manchester is now one of the world’s top 15 airports when it comes to the number of different destinations flown to.”
With new flights announced to Saudi Arabia and Morocco in February, and direct flights starting to San Francisco and Boston in March, air traffic is set to increase even further.
