Manchester Phoenix will need to ignore devastating injuries and uncertainty about their future home as they face another tough double-header this weekend.
Phoenix sit in sixth place having won eight out of their 20 matches as they prepare to take on Swindon Wildcats away on Saturday before returning to Deeside to play Peterborough Phantoms on Sunday.
Tony Hand’s side lost to the Wildcats last weekend, one of four overtime losses for the Mancunian side this season, much to the frustration of owner Neil Morris.
“We lost Robin Kovar last weekend so it’s been a tough week. I’ve never seen an injury spell like this before, they’re haunting us,” he told MM.
“The guys played so well last weekend and it was an exciting game. Whatever team loses like that ends up kicking themselves.”
This year’s Premier League has produced some unexpected results and only three points separate the top four.
Morris says that the team have battled adversity throughout the season but look forward to finding a Mancunian home next season.
“In reality it’s been the hardest year we’ve had in eleven years.
“We’ve gone from losing ice, to losing players, and asking fans to travel 60 miles.
“In terms of next season I would do whatever is best for the team and the fanbase. At the moment we’re looking at having our own building but I’d never say never to other options.
“Negotiations are ongoing and at the end of the day it’d be great for ice hockey to have both Manchester teams back in the centre of the city.”
