Every year fireworks are lit across the city to celebrate Guy Fawkes’ failed plot to blow up Parliament and kill King James I.
After the gunpowder plot was stopped in 1605, King James created a law that ordered the British people to celebrate every November 5.
These days Bonfire Night is all about funfairs, toasted marshmallows and toffee apples.
There are so many firework displays across Greater Manchester that you could celebrate Guy Fawkes’ every night this week.
Remember that you are not permitted to bring your own alcohol, sparklers or fireworks to these events and wrap up warm.
