Bury central defender Peter Clarke is confident that his side still have the confidence to win this weekend at Shrewsbury, despite going four games without victory in all competitions.
The Shakers had their streak of unbeaten away games, stretching back to January, ended by Bradford in midweek.
October has produced just one league win and two successive draws against local rivals Wigan and Rochdale, compared to September’s 100% record.
But Clarke has stressed that the team has the ability to recover their form against the Shrews, who have won just once in their last five league games but crushed Bury 5-0 last October.
“We believe we can go there on Saturday and get a win,” he said to the Bury Times.
“We believe we are not going to lose on the road, which I think is a fantastic motivational tool for us going into away games.
“We are just looking to the next game and to carry on our current form this season and on the road over the last few months.
“We are stubborn, well organised, there is a real desire not to lose or concede goals and they are good ingredients for the situation we find ourselves in.”
The Shakers’ manager David Flitcroft swiftly moved on from the loss to Bradford and stated that his side lacked quality in both attack and defence.
Bury’s options have been bolstered by the signing of Chris Eagles on a free transfer until the end of the season, although the ex-Manchester United winger is not expected to feature from the start.
“It’s a good signing for the club we’ll get him up and running, he needs a couple of weeks,” Flitcroft said.
“He’s got quality, he’ll have a creative influence over the team, he’s got pace and intricacy in his work.
“I think that we’ll do a fantastic job in re-engaging him back into football and what he does because he certainly loves football.”
