Bury could include six ex-Coventry players in their squad this weekend, as they welcome the Sky Blues to Gigg Lane this weekend.
The Shakers go into the game having won all three of their matches in September so far, but they have not beaten Coventry in the league in any of their last seven meetings, a run stretching back to 1964.
One of those facing old club Coventry for the first time is Bury captain Nathan Cameron, scorer of last weekend’s winner against Port Vale, who spent his youth career with Coventry.
Ahead of the game Cameron spoke about how the recent run of results has bred confidence among the side, and how he expects them to take that into the game against Coventry.
“When you are on a good run and winning games it breeds confidence and people get to express themselves more on the pitch, which gets you even more wins,” he said.
“We don’t fear anyone, there are a lot of good teams in this league, but if we play well most of the time we win and I don’t think a lot of teams can say that.
“We have some good players in the squad, the likes of Danny Mayor and Leon Clarke mean that going forward we always look like we can score goals.”
Shakers top-scorer Leon Clarke is another face familiar to Coventry, after the forward netted 23 goals in just 35 league appearances for the Sky Blues, but left some fans unhappy with the way he exited the club.
The forward seems to have rediscovered his goal scoring touch, after struggling during an 18-month spell at Wolves and during a loan spell at relegated Wigan last term.
But Coventry boss Tony Mowbray seemed relaxed ahead of Clarke’s return.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph he said: “I don’t know the history of Leon Clarke other than he did pretty well for the club.
“I don’t sit here and worry.
“He’s a strong and powerful player and in this league he can do some damage.
“It’s a game in which we have to concentrate on their strengths, Leon Clarke being one of them.”
