A woman has been left fighting for her life in hospital after a serious collision in Wythenshawe.
The incident happened around 4pm on Sunday June 21 when the 63-year-old victim and her 38-year-old son were walking along Wythenshawe Road, near to the junction with The Pines.
The driver mounted the grass verge, ploughed through a street sign to then hit both pedestrians.
Sergeant Orr, of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are still investigating as to exactly how this car ended up leaving the road and causing such terrible injuries.
“The car will be mechanically examined, but perhaps the best way to ascertain what occurred will be witness accounts received from the public.”
The woman, who now remains in a critical condition at Wythenshawe hospital, suffered two broken legs and internal bleeding.
Her son managed to escape with minor injuries, while the driver of the car was left unhurt.
Sergeant Orr continued: “It is so important for anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward and tell officers what they saw.”
