Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy on the suspicion of the murder of a man who was killed during a large brawl in Denton.
Officers were called to Manchester Road shortly before 3am on Sunday June 7 to reports of a large fight involving a group of between six and eight men.
Two men were left with serious injuries, resulting in one later dying in hospital. A post mortem examination is due to take place.
When news of the incident spread, locals took to social media to pay tribute the 21-year-old who they named as Dominic Doyle.
Detective Superintendent Phil Reade said: “A young man has sadly died and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his relatives and friends.
“I cannot begin to imagine what they are going through and specially trained officers are offering them whatever support we can.”
The second casualty, aged 18, remains in hospital where he is being treated for facial injuries though his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
A boy, aged just 15, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

Ds Reade said: “We have arrested one man but there are other people out there who were involved in the fight, and we believe the group may have been in Hughsey’s Bar beforehand.
“If you were in the bar last night and saw the group, please get in touch.
“I would urge any witnesses to this tragic incident to come forward and speak to us in confidence.
“When an incident like this happens, I understand it can cause a huge amount of distress in the community, but I would like to reassure the public that we have a team of experienced detectives working to establish the circumstances leading up to his death.”
