FESTIVAL: Taste of Trafford

By Gabriella Swerling

Trafford's annual food festival, A Taste of Trafford, returns to Altrincham's historic marketplace this September in partnership with the Manchester Food and Drink Festival.

The festival is attended by thousands of foodies each year but this year, Trafford talent will be applauded across Greater Manchester thanks to this exciting new partnership.

Olivia Malone of Manchester Food and Drink Festival said: "It's brilliant to have joined up with A Taste of Trafford.

“The borough and surrounding area has so much amazing food and drink that we can't wait for our visitors to experience the best of it.”

Altrincham Market will play host to an astounding array of delicious cuisines from all over the world designed by local restaurants and producers.

Visitors can choose to feast from over 40 different food and drink stalls and take home some treats for later by shopping with the festival currency, the Teseta.

Award-winning street food will also be served up against a backdrop of live entertainment and children’s activities.

Flixton Brass Band will be playing throughout the festival and The Vegetarian Society’s Cordon-Vert chefs will teach their skills and recipes to visitors.

Visitors are already revealing their excitement online, Paul Biesty of Timperly tweeted: “Put it in the diary Tot [Taste of Trafford] is a great day out.”

Ms Malone added: “We know from previous years how popular the day is and we're going to help make sure that this is the best day yet."

A Taste of Trafford 2012 will become part of the Altrincham Food Festival planned by Altrincham Forward for 2013.

The event will take place on Sunday September 23 from 11am to 4.30pm.
