Popular Heaton Moor eatery Damson has been chosen to provide recipes for visitors to a prestigious London butcher's new online shop.
With a plethora of Michelin-starred restaurants on their doorsteps, you might think Meat No Veg - the online home of Smithfield Market butchers James Burden Ltd - would have no shortage of potential partner restaurants in the capital with whom to launch their new web-based shop front.
But it was neighbourhood restaurant Damson which has been selected to launch the recipe section of the site.
Meat No Veg representatives travelled up to Greater Manchester with a selection of their finest cuts of meat for Damson chef-partner Simon Stanley to turn into the exquisite Modern British dishes he’s known for.
Recipes which wowed ranged from corned beef hash to pan fried calves liver, mashed potatoes, green beans and deviled sauce.
Steve Pilling, partner at Damson, said: “We’re delighted to have been selected by the team at James Burden to be part of this exciting new online food project. The website is a fantastic resource for people who care about quality meat and where it coes from, especially as it now includes a little piece of the Damson spirit on there!"
The recipes are now online at Meat No Veg where customers can select and order fine meat, poultry and game then find out how to turn the products into impressive but accessible dishes, courtesy of Stanley.
Oliver Hussey, from Meat No Veg, said: “We’re proud to be working with Damson to launch our online recipe area. It was important to us that the section of the site devoted to showcasing how our product can be turned into delicious dishes was handled by a team who are truly passionate about top quality meat.
"Simon, Steve and the team at Damson have an unparalleled expertise in this area, and with Damson being one of my favourite restaurants, I can think of no-one better to work with on this."
