Formula 1 star Jenson Button will be racing his McLaren Mercedes through Manchester city centre today, a day after his thrilling third-place finish at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.
The 2009 world champion will start his run at the Hilton Hotel in Deansgate at 1pm, finishing at Albert Square where he will wow fans with spinning doughnuts.
Button, currently fourth in the world standings 110 points behind leader Sebastian Vettel, started 13th on the grid yesterday but made a number of stunning overtaking moves, including one on Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso two laps from the end, to make his sixth podium of the season.

Button said: “Driving a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes car through Manchester is going to be pretty cool.
“I’m looking forward to putting on a show, creating some noise, smoke and hopefully entertaining the crowds.”
