A woman threatening to jump from Manchester Arndale building led the police to close off a street and halt Metrolink services today.
According to the Greater Manchester Police, she stood atop of the Arndale’s shopping centre and threatened to jump.
High Street was temporarily closed and the Metrolink services between Piccadilly Gardens and Shudehill stopped running both ways.
The GMP tweeted at 3.45 pm today: "ROADS OPEN - Road & trams back to normal. The incident was a suicide woman on the edge of car park, now down safe & well with officers."

It was later confirmed that she was actually on a car park managed by the NCP on the Arndale’s behalf.
NCP spokesperson Michelle McCarthy said: “Our staff was alerted via our CCTV equipment to a person who was acting suspiciously on the rooftop at the High Street car park, attached to the Arndale Centre. Our team responded immediately by calling the Police.”
