Baseball bat wielding thugs leave Bolton man fighting for life after car chase crash

By Dean Wilkins

Baseball bat wielding thugs brutally attacked a Bolton man after a road pursuit today – leaving him fighting for his life.

The 30-year-old victim was travelling with two others on Bury Road, Radcliffe, before two vehicles chased them at around 12.40am.

The victim’s car crashed into a tree and the men in pursuit, armed with baseball bats and knives, viciously attacked the three men – hitting and stabbing them.

The men suffered multiple stab wounds and injuries and one man is in a life-threating condition in hospital with fractures and swelling on the brain.

Detective Chief Inspector Lynne Vernon, of Bury CID, said: "This was an exceptionally violent incident that will quite rightly shock the community in Radcliffe.

"One man is now fighting for his life and two others received less serious injuries. We are at a very early stage of the investigation and cannot speculate on what led up to this incident. We also do not have a full description of the pursuing vehicles.

"A scene will remain open for some time so unfortunately there could be some local disruption, however we are doing our best to get back to normal as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Bury CID on 0161 856 8150 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
