By Dean Wilkins

A woman’s ‘mangled’ body was found on Upper Brook Street, Manchester, during this morning's rush hour traffic.

Police are investigating the incident in Longsight following reports that the lower half of a torso was discovered in the middle of the road at around 9.30am.

Upper Brook Street is closed and officers are advising motorists to avoid the area.

Many people witnessed the ‘horrific sight’. One Tweeter said: “Just saw possibly the most disturbing thing of my life cycling along Upper Brook Street. Keep an eye out on the news, too bad to tweet it.”

Another added: “Cant believe what I've just seen in the middle of Upper Brook Street a body all mangled or a pig or something across the road?!?”

The police said: “The investigation is in its early stages and inquiries are ongoing.”

It amazes me how insensative

It amazes me how insensative people are a life has been lost what are you all going on about where it was and in whos back yard it is.Does this really matter when this poor woman has lost her life in the most horrific way. God rest her sole and I pray for her family at this very sad time.

i agree, its discusting how

i agree, its discusting how people are such idiots

how sad, people just care

how sad, people just care these days, they have there own life to live and dont care for others

I just walked around 8:30

I just walked around 8:30 going to the Uni and noticed nothing. It seems that those who found the body were somewhere waiting on a bus stop and looking around then their eyes fall on the body. What happens with me was that walking and just concentrating in front of me. Our hearts goes to whoever their relatives and friends. it is really tragic and sad to lose a life. Also, I think no one will drop a body after the sunshine specially there are many CCTV cameras, so the body was there before that time and was not noticed by the public pedestrians.

happened outside tesco didnt

happened outside tesco didnt it? i left uni to go home and my mate rang me to tell me the news, horrid incident, especially when i live around the corner from there. to be honest, iv heard of Chorlton-on-Medlock, but positive its further up towards uni.

You said it yourself - you're

You said it yourself - you're living in the Victorian era.

Times have changed I'm afraid, though I'll still doth my cap to you as I pass you during your little slip-up.

Anyway, terrible event to have occured in Longsight.

You're just being a troll and

You're just being a troll and showing your ignorance. Ten seconds spent Googling the name, instead of posting silly comments, would have shown you the truth. Or try Wikipedia. It was one of the many townships that made up Manchester in the Victorian era and is still an area of Manchester which stretches out from the city centre along Upper Brook Street.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chorlton-on-Medlock

Chorlton-on-medlock - you

Chorlton-on-medlock - you just made that up didn't you?

Chorlton on Medlock?? No one

Chorlton on Medlock?? No one has ever even heard of this place! There are bigger issues at hand!

You obviously don't know

You obviously don't know Manchester very well!

There's Chorlton On Medlock which stretches from the city centre to Hathersage Road and Chorlton Cum Hardy which is a completely different place over near Didsbury.

And this isn't Ardwick either, which is from Piccadilly Station to The Apollo and lies to the east of Ardwick Green.

It's nowhere near Chorlton, I

It's nowhere near Chorlton, I live rifght beside it - it is Ardwick

> concerned about a

> concerned about a postcode

And you're not concerned about accuracy in reporting? Why not? News stories are constructed from facts. If the story said it was a man and happened in Broughton would you still be saying this?

Also Longsight has enough of a bad reputation without being named when it shouldn't be.

it's weird that no one has

it's weird that no one has reported a woman being hit by a vehicle.

Watching you lot get wound up

Watching you lot get wound up is very amusing.

The only thing we have heard

The only thing we have heard here is that she jumped off a building

anyone know how she died???

anyone know how she died???

she wasnt hit by a bus

she wasnt hit by a bus

Buses! Seriously people,

Buses! Seriously people, walk! I am sure as hell you can get places that way

Location or bus routes should

Location or bus routes should not matter!!!! I had only just missed the accident as it happened outside my uni and I started at half 9! But to, hear about something like this has happened, it is horrific! This woman, could be someone's, mother, daughter, sister, auntie or whatever, think of what her family will be going through when they find out! Have a heart for god sake!

As terrible as it is, life

As terrible as it is, life for the rest of us goes on, and that means travelling on the bus.

yeah I agree with the top two

yeah I agree with the top two comments, my girlfriend was extremely distraught over what she had seen in the street today and the family of that poor woman are going to be in pieces when they find out what has happened so stop commenting about bus routes and things that are unimportant and have a heart.

Again you are very

Again you are very insensitive a women has been brutally killed n your concerned about a postcode grow up

Why does that matter a women

Why does that matter a women is dead so insensitive

50 bus running Birchfields

50 bus running Birchfields Rd, Dickenson Rd, Wilmslow Rd, Hathersage Rd, normal route

That location isn't

That location isn't Longsight! The boundary of Longsight is Hathersage Road and even then it's the upper part of Hathersage Road because the area near Anson Road is Victoria Park. I reckon the location near Microdirect and the MRI where this horrible incident has occured should be described as Chorlton On Medlock.
